Chakra is derived from the Sanskrit word "cakram" meaning wheel / disc or turning. It is a concept referring to the wheel-like vortices which, according to traditional Indian medicine, are believed to exist in the surface of the etheric double of man. The Chakras are said to be "force centres" or whorls of energy permeating (from a point on the physical body) the layers of the subtle bodies in an ever-increasing fan-shaped formation. They are considered the focal points for the reception and transmission of energies. For healing or balancing purposes, the appropriate stones must be placed on the Chakras, or above the head or below the feet to perform the given task. The stones should be left in place for around 15 minutes allowing you time to relax and meditate while they do their work.
