Discover our collection of genuine Moldavite, a rare natural tektite formed during a meteorite impact approximately 14.8 million years ago. Recognised for its distinctive green colour and extraordinary origin, Moldavite is one of the world's most sought-after natural impact glasses.

Moldavite formed when the meteorite impact that created the Nördlinger Ries impact structure in present-day Germany ejected molten terrestrial material high into the atmosphere. As this material cooled rapidly, it solidified into natural glass before falling across what is now the recognised Moldavite strewn field within the Bohemian and Moravian regions of the Czech Republic.

Unlike most tektites, authentic Moldavite is found almost exclusively within this single recognised strewn field, contributing to its rarity and worldwide collector appeal. Its distinctive appearance, limited geographical distribution and scientific significance have made it one of the most recognisable tektites in the world.

Our collection showcases authenticated Moldavite selected for its authenticity, scientific significance and natural beauty.

What is Moldavite?

Moldavite is a genuine natural tektite formed when terrestrial material melted during the meteorite impact that created the Nördlinger Ries impact structure approximately 14.8 million years ago.

Is Moldavite a meteorite?

No. Moldavite is not a meteorite. It is natural impact glass formed from Earth's rocks during a meteorite impact.

Where is Moldavite found?

Authentic Moldavite is found almost exclusively within the Bohemian and Moravian regions of the Czech Republic, where it occurs across the recognised Moldavite strewn field.

Why is Moldavite rare?

Moldavite is found almost exclusively within a limited area of the Czech Republic. Its restricted distribution and finite natural supply contribute to its rarity and enduring collector interest.

Are all Moldavite specimens the same?

No. Every Moldavite specimen is naturally unique, varying in size, shape, colour, transparency and surface texture.
