Own a genuine Choffaticeras ammonite fossil from the ancient seas of Morocco, dating to the Upper Cretaceous Period, approximately 94–90 million years ago. These beautifully preserved marine fossils represent an extinct group of cephalopods that thrived millions of years before the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Choffaticeras is recognised for its elegant planispiral shell, pronounced ribbing and intricate suture patterns, making it a favourite amongst fossil collectors, palaeontology enthusiasts and educational institutions. Every specimen preserves a unique chapter of Earth's prehistoric marine history and no two fossils are ever identical.

This specimen also displays natural Long Wave (LW) ultraviolet fluorescence, producing a white fluorescent glow when viewed under a 365nm UV lamp, making it an excellent addition to both fossil and fluorescent collections.

About Choffaticeras

Choffaticeras is an extinct genus of ammonite belonging to the family Acanthoceratidae. These marine cephalopods lived in warm tropical seas during the Upper Cretaceous and used their chambered shells to regulate buoyancy while swimming.

Their beautifully ornamented shells, distinctive ribbing and complex suture patterns make them one of Morocco's most recognisable Cretaceous ammonites. Today they are highly prized by collectors for both their scientific significance and decorative appeal.

Fossil Preservation

Each Choffaticeras ammonite has been naturally fossilised over millions of years, preserving the original coiled shell and characteristic ribbing. Variations in mineralisation and preservation make every specimen unique. UV Fluorescence

This specimen is naturally UV reactive.

Under a 365nm Long Wave (LW) ultraviolet lamp, the fossil displays a white fluorescent glow.

Natural fluorescence occurs due to minerals incorporated during fossilisation and can vary slightly depending on the strength of the UV lamp and viewing conditions.

Why Collect Choffaticeras?

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a genuine ammonite fossil?

Yes. Every Choffaticeras specimen sold by GeoFossils is a genuine natural fossil.

How old is this fossil?

Approximately 94–90 million years old, dating from the Upper Cretaceous Period.

Why does it glow under UV light?

Minerals incorporated during fossilisation naturally fluoresce under Long Wave (365nm) ultraviolet light, producing a white glow.

Is every specimen different?

Yes. Each fossil differs naturally in preservation, shape, colour and mineralisation.

Is this suitable for education?

Yes. Choffaticeras ammonites are ideal for schools, universities, museums and private collections.
