This Pyrite 6 Sided Pendulum is crafted from natural Pyrite and polished into a classic six-sided faceted point.

Each pendulum is suspended from a silver plated chain and finished with a round Clear Quartz holding bead, providing a comfortable point from which to hold the pendulum.

Pyrite is an iron sulphide mineral recognised for its distinctive metallic lustre and brass-yellow to golden colouring. Its reflective appearance has led to the historic nickname “Fool's Gold”, although Pyrite and Gold are completely different mineral substances.

One of Pyrite's most fascinating characteristics is its ability to form remarkably geometric natural crystals. Cubes, octahedra and pyritohedra can occur naturally, sometimes displaying characteristic striations across their crystal faces.

Natural variations in metallic lustre, colour, inclusions and texture make every Pyrite pendulum individually distinctive.

Suitable for mineral and crystal collectors, traditional dowsing practices, decorative collections or as a distinctive geological gift.

Pyrite consists of iron and sulphur and is one of the most widespread sulphide minerals.

It occurs in numerous geological environments and can be found within igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks, as well as hydrothermal mineral deposits.

Pyrite is particularly celebrated by mineral collectors for its naturally geometric crystal habits. Despite their almost manufactured appearance, sharply defined Pyrite cubes can form entirely through natural geological processes.

Why Is Pyrite Called Fool's Gold?

Pyrite became widely known as Fool's Gold because its metallic golden appearance can superficially resemble native Gold.

The two materials are nevertheless very different.

Pyrite is iron sulphide (FeS₂), whereas Gold is the native metallic element Au.

Pyrite is also considerably harder and more brittle than Gold. Gold is soft and malleable, whereas Pyrite can fracture when subjected to sufficient force.

The nickname remains an important part of Pyrite's history, but Pyrite is a fascinating mineral in its own right rather than a type of Gold.

Is Pyrite Magnetic?

Despite its high iron content, ordinary Pyrite is not strongly magnetic.

This can surprise people because Pyrite contains iron, but the presence of an element within a mineral does not automatically give that mineral the same physical properties as the element in its metallic form.

Pyrite should therefore not be confused with strongly magnetic iron-bearing minerals such as Magnetite.

Metaphysical Properties

Within contemporary crystal traditions, Pyrite is commonly associated with abundance, confidence, motivation, determination and personal ambition.

Its gold-like appearance has also contributed to its traditional symbolic association with prosperity and success.

These associations form part of modern crystal traditions and personal spiritual practices and are not scientifically established properties of Pyrite.

Chakra Association

Traditionally associated with:

  • Solar Plexus Chakra
  • Root Chakra

Zodiac Connection

Traditionally associated with:

  • Leo

Element

Earth

Within contemporary crystal traditions, Pyrite is commonly associated with the Earth element.

Crystal Pairing

Traditional crystal pairings for Pyrite include:

  • Clear Quartz
  • Citrine
  • Tiger's Eye
  • Smoky Quartz

These pairings reflect contemporary crystal traditions and personal practices rather than scientifically established effects.

Please Note

Pyrite is a natural sulphide mineral, so colour, metallic lustre, inclusions, texture and surface appearance may vary between individual pendulums.

Pyrite can react with prolonged exposure to moisture and humid conditions. To help preserve its appearance, keep your pendulum dry, avoid soaking it in water and store it away from excessive humidity.

Pyrite is brittle compared with many commonly polished stones and may chip if dropped or struck against a hard surface.

Natural inclusions, pits, textural variations and small surface features are characteristics of natural mineral material and are not necessarily imperfections.

We will randomly choose a pendulum from our collection for you.
