This Narmada River Stone 6 Sided Pendulum is crafted from natural stone traditionally associated with the Narmada River in India and shaped into a polished six-sided faceted point.

Each pendulum is suspended from a silver plated chain and finished with a round Clear Quartz holding bead, providing a comfortable point from which to hold the pendulum.

Narmada River Stones are recognised for their distinctive earthy appearance, commonly displaying combinations of brown, reddish-brown, grey, cream and darker markings. Each piece develops its own pattern and colour distribution, making every finished pendulum individually distinctive.

The Narmada River also holds considerable cultural and religious significance in India. Naturally river-shaped stones from the Narmada have a long-standing association with Hindu traditions, particularly with Shiva, where naturally formed examples are known as Banalinga, Narmada Lingam or Shiva Lingam stones.

These pendulums have been deliberately cut and faceted rather than retaining the naturally rounded form traditionally associated with a Banalinga. We therefore describe the product as Narmada River Stone while recognising its cultural and historical context.

Suitable for geological and crystal collections, traditional dowsing practices, decorative collections or as a distinctive gift.

The Narmada is one of India's major rivers, flowing across central India towards the Arabian Sea.

Stones associated with the river can acquire naturally rounded forms through prolonged movement, abrasion and erosion within the river environment.

Commercial descriptions of Narmada River Stone vary considerably regarding its precise geological composition. Materials described under this name have been associated with quartz-rich rocks, chalcedony or jasper-like material, quartzite and other lithologies.

For geological accuracy, we therefore identify this product by its supplied material name, Narmada River Stone, rather than assigning it to a specific mineral species without analytical confirmation.

Is Narmada River Stone from the Ganges?

No.

Narmada River Stone takes its name from the Narmada River, not the Ganges or Ganga.

The Narmada and Ganges are separate river systems in India. The Narmada travels westwards across central India and ultimately reaches the Arabian Sea.

The association between Narmada stones and the Ganges can sometimes become confused because both rivers have major religious and cultural significance within Hindu traditions.

Is Narmada River Stone the Same as a Shiva Lingam?

There is an important distinction.

Naturally rounded stones from the Narmada River have a long cultural and religious association with Shiva and may be known as Banalinga, Narmada Lingam or Shiva Lingam stones within Hindu traditions.

Traditional Banalinga stones are valued in their naturally occurring rounded or elongated forms.

This product has been cut and faceted into a six-sided pendulum, so we describe it as a Narmada River Stone Pendulum rather than presenting the finished faceted object itself as a traditional Banalinga.

This distinction allows us to recognise the cultural significance of the source material while accurately describing the manufactured product.

Is Narmada River Stone a Mineral?

Narmada River Stone is better treated as a commercial or locality-based material name rather than the name of an individual mineral species.

Different descriptions of material sold under this name identify various quartz-rich and other rock compositions.

Without mineralogical analysis of this particular stock, we do not assign these pendulums a definitive mineral composition.

Cultural & Historical Significance

The Narmada River holds an important place within Hindu religious and cultural traditions.

Naturally occurring rounded stones collected from the river are particularly associated with Shiva. Known as Banalinga or Narmada Lingam stones, they have traditionally been regarded as sacred objects and used within Hindu worship and devotional practices.

This cultural tradition is separate from the modern commercial use of Narmada River material for polished objects such as pendulums.

We include this history to recognise the cultural origin and significance associated with the material rather than to make religious or supernatural claims about the product.

Metaphysical Properties

Please Note

Material Disclosure: Narmada River Stone is a commercial/locality-based material description rather than the name of a single recognised mineral species.

Published and commercial descriptions of its precise mineral composition vary. Without mineralogical analysis of this particular stock, we do not represent these pendulums as being definitively Jasper, Chalcedony, Quartzite or another specific mineral.

This pendulum has been deliberately cut, shaped and polished and should not be confused with an unaltered naturally shaped Banalinga or traditional Shiva Lingam stone.

As this is natural stone material, colour, markings, inclusions, pattern and surface characteristics will vary between individual pendulums.

Natural inclusions and small surface variations are characteristic of natural geological material and are not necessarily imperfections.

We will randomly choose a pendulum from our collection for you.
