These polished Lithuanian Baltic Amber specimens each contain a confirmed biological inclusion, preserving tiny traces of ancient life within fossilised tree resin.
Originating from Lithuania in the Baltic region, Baltic Amber is primarily associated with Eocene deposits and dates to approximately 34–48 million years ago. Ancient tree resin could trap small organisms and biological material before being buried and gradually transformed into the Amber we recognise today.
We have nine individually listed specimens, each with its own biological inclusion and unique internal characteristics. The Amber has been polished to improve visibility and every specimen is presented in an individual 25mm magnifying display box. The built-in magnification allows the inclusion to be examined more closely while keeping the small specimen protected and easy to handle.
These specimens have an additional collector feature: the Amber is UV reactive, displaying green fluorescence under Long Wave (LW) ultraviolet light.

What is Baltic Amber?
Amber is fossilised tree resin, an organic material produced by ancient trees rather than a mineral.
When resin flowed from trees, its sticky surface could trap tiny organisms and other biological material. The resin was subsequently buried in sediment and underwent chemical and physical changes over millions of years, eventually becoming Amber.
Baltic Amber is particularly important to palaeontology because of the extraordinary range of biological material preserved within it. These inclusions provide direct evidence of organisms and ecosystems that existed tens of millions of years ago.
Biological Inclusions
Every Amber specimen in this listing contains a confirmed biological inclusion.
Biological inclusions occur when an organism or biological material becomes trapped within tree resin before the resin hardens. Once enclosed, the resin can protect delicate material from many of the normal processes of decomposition.
The size, position, appearance and visibility of each inclusion naturally differ. This individuality means that every specimen is unique.
Where a biological inclusion can be identified confidently to a more specific type, this can be recorded against the individual specimen rather than applying an uncertain identification.
25mm Magnifying Display Box
Each piece is supplied in its own 25mm magnifying display box.
The integrated magnification provides an enlarged view through the polished Amber, making it easier to examine the biological inclusion and other internal features without repeatedly handling the specimen.
The protective presentation also makes these small pieces particularly suitable for display, study and specialist fossil collections.
UV Fluorescence
These Lithuanian Baltic Amber specimens are naturally UV reactive.
LW: Green Fluorescence
When exposed to Long Wave ultraviolet light, the Amber displays a green fluorescent response.
The precise appearance and intensity of natural fluorescence can vary between specimens and according to the UV lamp, viewing distance and ambient lighting conditions.
Why Collect Amber with Biological Inclusions?
Amber containing biological inclusions combines geology and palaeontology in a single specimen. Rather than preserving only the shape or mineralised remains of an organism, Amber can preserve extremely small biological material within the fossilised resin itself.
The combination of a confirmed biological inclusion, polished viewing surface, magnifying presentation and LW green fluorescence makes these particularly interesting specimens for both fossil and fluorescent collections.
Care Instructions
Handle Amber carefully and avoid harsh chemicals, excessive heat and prolonged strong sunlight. Clean only when necessary using a soft, dry cloth.
Keeping the specimen within its magnifying display box will also help protect it from unnecessary handling.
