This Pink Petrified Wood 6 Sided Pendulum is crafted from fossilised wood originating from Arizona, USA, near the Petrified Forest National Park region.
Each pendulum is polished into a classic six-sided faceted point, suspended from a silver plated chain and finished with a round Clear Quartz holding bead, providing a comfortable point from which to hold the pendulum.
Pink Petrified Wood has an extraordinary natural history. Long before becoming stone, the material began as genuine woody plant material. After burial, mineral-rich groundwater moved through the porous wood, allowing silica and other minerals to enter its cellular structure.
Over geological time, permineralisation and mineral replacement transformed the ancient wood into fossilised stone while preserving aspects of its original biological structure. Petrified wood from the Petrified Forest region is composed almost entirely of Quartz, with silica having crystallised within the wood as the original organic material progressively disappeared.
The attractive pink, rose, red and complementary earthy colours are associated with trace minerals incorporated during fossilisation. In the Petrified Forest region, iron oxides are responsible for colours ranging from yellow through red to brown and black, while manganese compounds can contribute additional colours.
Every pendulum displays its own combination of fossil structure, mineralisation, colour and pattern, making each piece individually distinctive.
Suitable for fossil and mineral collectors, crystal collections, traditional dowsing practices, decorative collections or as an unusual natural history gift.

The Petrified Forest region of northeastern Arizona is internationally recognised for its extraordinary concentrations of fossilised wood.
The National Park Service describes regional petrified wood as almost entirely Quartz. Silica derived partly from volcanic material entered buried wood and crystallised within its cellular structure, while some specimens also experienced replacement of the original woody material by silica.
How Does Wood Turn to Stone?
Petrification requires a particular combination of burial and mineral-rich groundwater.
Ancient trees entered river systems and were buried beneath sediment. Rapid burial reduced exposure to oxygen and slowed normal decomposition.
Water containing dissolved minerals then penetrated the porous wood. Silica crystallised within microscopic spaces and cellular structures, while mineral replacement could progressively substitute silica for some of the original organic material.
The remarkable result is a fossil that can preserve recognisable structures from the original plant while now being composed predominantly of mineral material.
Why Is Pink Petrified Wood Pink?
The pink and reddish colours are associated with trace minerals present within the silicified wood.
The National Park Service identifies iron and manganese compounds among the important colour-producing materials within petrified wood from the region. Iron oxides can produce colours ranging from yellow through red and brown, while manganese compounds contribute other darker and contrasting shades.
We do not claim that every pink area within these particular pendulums has an identical chemical composition without laboratory analysis.
Is Pink Petrified Wood Really Wood?
It was once genuine wood, but it has been transformed through fossilisation.
The original biological material came from ancient trees or other woody plants. During petrification, minerals entered and preserved its structure while silica progressively mineralised and, in some cases, replaced original organic material.
The resulting object is therefore fossilised wood rather than modern wood.
Is Petrified Wood a Fossil, Mineral or Crystal?
Petrified Wood is a fossil.
However, the fossil itself can be composed predominantly of minerals. Petrified wood from the Petrified Forest region is largely silicified and can be almost entirely Quartz.
This means Pink Petrified Wood sits at an interesting intersection between palaeontology and mineralogy: its origin is biological, while much of the preserved material is now mineral.
How Old Is Arizona Petrified Wood?
The Petrified Forest region is famous for fossil wood dating from the Late Triassic Period.
The National Park Service places major deposits within the park's Chinle Formation at approximately 208–225 million years old.
Because these pendulums originate from near the Petrified Forest National Park region rather than a confirmed mapped formation within the park, we do not assign an exact geological age to this particular commercial material.
Does This Petrified Wood Come from Petrified Forest National Park?
No claim is made that this material was collected from within Petrified Forest National Park.
Our provenance identifies the material as originating from Arizona near the Petrified Forest National Park region.
Petrified wood and other natural resources within the National Park are federally protected and cannot legally be removed. The National Park Service confirms that petrified wood sold commercially in the area is collected from private land outside park boundaries.

Please Note
Pink Petrified Wood is a natural fossil material, so colour, pattern, mineralisation, preserved structures and inclusions will vary between individual pendulums.
The material originates from Arizona, USA, near the Petrified Forest National Park region. We do not represent it as having been collected from within Petrified Forest National Park.
The pink and reddish colouration is associated with naturally occurring trace mineral compounds. Without laboratory analysis of this individual stock, we do not attribute every coloured area to one specific mineral.
Natural fractures, pits, mineral-filled areas, preserved structures and small surface variations may remain visible after polishing. These are characteristics of natural fossil material and are not necessarily imperfections.
We will randomly choose a pendulum from our collection for you.
