Its colours range from deep brown to black, often with iridescent rainbow hues caused by surface oxidation.

This specimen originates from the San Valentín Mine in the historic La Unión mining district, Murcia, Spain — one of the most famous localities for aesthetic goethite. The mine is celebrated for producing lustrous, metallic specimens with vibrant iridescence, making them highly desirable to mineral collectors.
