This Vesuvianite 6 Sided Pendulum is crafted from natural Vesuvianite and polished into a classic six-sided faceted point.

Each pendulum is suspended from a silver plated chain and finished with a round Clear Quartz holding bead, providing a comfortable point from which to hold the pendulum.

Also known as Idocrase, Vesuvianite is a fascinating and chemically complex silicate mineral. It occurs in several colours, with green, yellow-green and brown-green being particularly characteristic, although other colours are also known.

Vesuvianite is sometimes confused with or incorrectly referred to as Garnet, particularly when green material resembles varieties of green Garnet. Although the two minerals can occur together in similar geological environments, Vesuvianite is not a Garnet. They are distinct minerals with different crystal structures and chemical compositions.

Natural variations in colour, pattern, translucency and inclusions make every Vesuvianite pendulum individually distinctive.

Suitable for mineral and crystal collectors, traditional dowsing practices, decorative collections or as a distinctive gift.

Geological & Material Information

Mineral: Vesuvianite
Alternative Name: Idocrase
Mineral Classification: Silicate
Crystal System: Tetragonal
Mohs Hardness: Approximately 6.5
Material: Natural Vesuvianite
Pendulum Shape: 6 sided faceted point
Chain: Silver plated
Holding Bead: Round Clear Quartz

Vesuvianite is an unusually chemically and structurally complex silicate mineral. Its composition can accommodate several different elements within its crystal structure, including calcium, aluminium, magnesium and iron.

It commonly forms through contact metamorphism, particularly where igneous activity alters carbonate-rich rocks such as limestone, dolomite and marble. Vesuvianite is also commonly associated with skarn deposits.

The mineral was named Vesuvianite in 1795 after specimens discovered near Mount Vesuvius in Italy. The alternative name Idocrase was introduced the following year and remains in use, particularly within gemmology.

Is Vesuvianite a Garnet?

No. Vesuvianite is not Garnet.

The confusion is understandable because Vesuvianite and Garnet can:

  • Occur together within contact-metamorphic environments
  • Display similar green, yellow-green or brownish colours
  • Be polished and used as ornamental or gemstone material
  • Appear visually similar when fashioned

Mineralogically, however, they are different.

Vesuvianite crystallises in the tetragonal crystal system and has a particularly complex silicate structure. Garnet describes a separate group of silicate minerals characterised by an isometric crystal structure and a different general chemical composition.

For this reason, products labelled simply as “Vesuvianite Garnet” can be misleading unless the material genuinely contains both minerals.

This pendulum is sold as Vesuvianite, not Garnet.

Metaphysical Properties

Within contemporary crystal traditions, Vesuvianite is commonly associated with personal growth, creativity, confidence, enthusiasm and positive change.

These associations form part of modern crystal traditions and personal spiritual practices and are not scientifically established properties of the mineral.

Chakra Association

Traditionally associated with:

  • Heart Chakra
  • Solar Plexus Chakra

Zodiac Connection

Traditionally associated with:

  • Capricorn
  • Sagittarius

Element

Earth

Within modern crystal traditions, Vesuvianite is commonly associated with the Earth element.

Crystal Pairing

Traditional crystal pairings for Vesuvianite include:

  • Clear Quartz
  • Garnet
  • Green Tourmaline
  • Smoky Quartz

Pairing Vesuvianite with Garnet does not mean that they are the same mineral; they are mineralogically distinct materials.

These pairings reflect contemporary crystal traditions and personal practices rather than scientifically established effects.

Please Note

Vesuvianite is a natural mineral, so colour, pattern, translucency, inclusions and surface characteristics can vary between individual pendulums.

Vesuvianite may sometimes be confused with Garnet due to similarities in appearance and the geological environments in which the minerals can occur. Vesuvianite and Garnet are separate mineral species/groups and should not be treated as interchangeable names.

Natural inclusions, small surface variations and differences in appearance are characteristic of natural stone and are not necessarily imperfections.

We will randomly choose a pendulum from our collection for you.
