The Snow Moon of February

by Kim Robinson

Very little happens celestially during February, but every year we are graced with the Snow Moon, the given name for February's Full Moon, due to the month's colder temperature.

It's no secret that we are all fascinated by full moons. We cannot help but be drawn to a certain mystique and power every month, whether a Full Moon or New Moon.

Winter is still present during the Snow Moon of February, with chilly winds cutting through our jackets and wrapping our scarves tightly. Unfortunately, depending upon where you live, it can start to feel as if these bitter and icy days will never end as the snow continues to fall.

However, there is energy beneath the surface, like a quickening heart. Slight changes may go unnoticed by those around you. The days are getting longer, the birds are chirping more, snowdrops start to unfurl, some animals begin their mating season, the sunlight strengthens, and our dreams and ambitions begin to take shape.

The Spiritual Meaning of February's Snow Moon.

Februarys' Snow Moon is full of change and transition. The weather is fickle, deciding between bright sunshine or snowy cloud-covered days.

Nature is straight-up being dodgy right now! Is spring on its way? Should I take a jacket, maybe an umbrella? Of course, the weather is one of our main subjects daily! But during February has us more flummoxed than usual. But on a more serious note, do you find your patience faltering? Are you feeling agitated and edgy? During this Snow Moon, take time out and reflect on the true nature and spirit of this Moon.

However, it is so much more than literal snow. February's Snow Moon symbolises change, hope, creativity, and growth. That's the spiritual meaning of the Snow Moon!

However, growth is not always comfortable or easy. Figure out ways you can relax and surrender to this transitional season. How can you clear out the unnecessary to make room for the meaningful?

During this time, we start to move past the goal-setting stage and into realistic planning stages. So how are you going to make your intentions come to fruition? Direct your magical intentions on rituals this month focused on new habits, goals, and plans for the future.

Take some time to focus and be present. Contemplate your personal and spiritual intentions. Snow Moon is a truly magical time, full of beautiful energy and momentum!
